Form Templates
Form templates are reusable outlines that allow you to create forms based on a predefined structure. Templates are organized in Template Libraries, which can be accessed from the Templates menu in the main navigation bar. Clicking the Templates button on the library will open the list of contained templates.
Templates can either be created from the template menu or they can be saved from an application’s forms list. To create a new template, click the green Create button at the top of the template list.
To modify a template click Design. To edit the template name and description, click Edit. To remove the template, click on Remove.
Template listings can be filtered by name with the search bar.
Note
Users must have the designer role in order to view the templates menu.
Permissions
Permissions can be set for both Template Libraries and individual templates. To access the permissions interface, click on the Permissions button on the template or library list item.
Note
Users who have both the admin and designer role can manage all templates and template libraries, regardless of permissions.
Template Libraries
Template libraries can be thought of as folders for templates. Users have full rights to template libraries and templates that they are the owner of. Additional permissions can be set for each library to control whether other users can use, create, and manage templates within that library.
There are three levels of security for each feature:
Public: Anyone may utilize the feature.
Protected: Usage of the feature is restricted to the specified users or roles.
Private: Usage of the feature is restricted to the admins and the original creator.
For protected permissions, existing user and group names in the system will be suggested as you type.
The following features can be configured:
Who can use these templates?: whether a user or role is able to use the templates in the library to create forms.
Who can create new templates?: Grants the ability to view template listings and create templates for the library.
Who can manage these templates?: Allows editing templates, modifying details, modifying permissions, and deleting form templates.
Templates
For users with only the permission to create new templates in a library, they can be granted permissions for individual templates.
There are three levels of security for each feature:
Public: Anyone may utilize the feature.
Protected: Usage of the feature is restricted to the specified users or roles.
Private: Usage of the feature is restricted to the admins and the original creator.
The following features can be configured:
Who can use this template?: Allows specified users or roles to use this template to create forms.
Who can modify the design of this template?: Grants the ability modify the design of the template.
Template Designer
The template designer is a simplified version of the form designer, allowing designers to create basic outlines that serve as foundations for forms. Drag controls from the palette on the left side of the screen to the canvas in the center to build your template. Default values can be entered in the fields, and you can set control properties.
